About the job: Kent is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to be based in Aberdeen to support the decommissioning service line in delivering integrated decommissioning projects, including EDC (engineering, down and cleaning), D&D (Disembarkation and de-energisation) and EPRD (Engineering Preparation, Removal, and Disposal) scopes. Provide coordinated technical and project execution support across the full project lifecycle, from tender development through to close-out.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of decommissioning projects throughout all phases, including bid support, detailed engineering, execution, and project close-out.
  • Contribute to the development of technical scopes, specifications, and supporting documentation for enquiries and subcontractor packages – working closely with the technical discipline leads.
  • Support interface management activities across engineering disciplines, subcontractors, and client stakeholders, ensuring alignment on deliverables and timelines.
  • Provide input to technical deliverables, project plans, method statements, and execution documentation.
  • Facilitate coordination between engineering, construction, HSEQ, commercial, and project control functions to support effective project delivery.
  • Manage and track technical queries, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with project risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities, and maintain associated registers.
  • Support change management processes, including tracking, evaluation, and documentation of scope changes.
  • Prepare and contribute to internal and external project reporting, including progress updates and performance metrics.
  • Monitor and support schedule tracking and cost control activities in collaboration with project controls.
  • Take ownership of defined work scopes or packages, ensuring delivery in line with project requirements and deadlines.
  • Work closely with discipline engineers and technical leads to prioritise activities and maintain progress against milestones.
  • Support readiness activities across engineering and execution phases to ensure smooth transition into offshore or site operations.
  • Coordinate activities with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure clarity of scope and delivery expectations.
  • Maintain structured action, decision, and interface registers, ensuring visibility and closure of project activities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining key project documentation, including execution plans, estimates, risk registers, and change logs.
  • Contribute to the implementation of project control processes to enhance reporting accuracy and consistency.
  • Participate in HSEQ initiatives, audits, and lessons learned sessions, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Attend project meetings and support the capture and tracking of actions, decisions, and key discussion points.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Engineering degree in related field. Ideally Chartered, or actively working towards chartership.
  • Experience working within engineering or project delivery environments, ideally in energy, offshore, marine, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Exposure to contractor or operator environments where similar decommissioning scopes have been delivered would be advantageous.
  • Experience in decommissioning, offshore construction, or late-life asset operations is beneficial.
  • Discipline experience may vary and can be aligned with the various WBS elements e.g. structural engineering experience within EPRD delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to support multidisciplinary teams and manage deliverables to deadlines.
  • Experience working with suppliers or subcontractors is desirable.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

  • Strong organisational capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proactive approach with a focus on delivery and problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage across diverse stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
  • Background in engineering (discipline or construction-focused preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Well-organised and methodical approach to project work.
  • Working knowledge of key project management practices, including:
    • Decommissioning execution strategies/methodologies
    • Interface and stakeholder management
    • Management of change
    • Project controls and reporting
    • Risk tracking
    • Action tracking and close-out processes
