Project Scope: Kent is looking for a Senior Control and Instrumentation Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the efficient design, installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, contributing to the overall success of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems for industrial processes, including selecting instrumentation and control devices.
- Create and maintain design documents, including specifications, data sheets, control logic diagrams, layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&ID updates.
- Develop and review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, instrument index and schedules, control system specifications, and automation documentation.
- Integrate C&I systems with other systems (e.g., SCADA, ICSS, HMI) to ensure data flow and coordination between different systems.
- Perform related duties as and when instructed by Lead / Principal Engineer.
- Can be technically responsible for an area of work and supervise preparation of specific deliverables.
- Co-ordinate with engineering disciplines for control narratives, Cause & Effect diagrams, and functional safety assessments.
- Proficient in the use of SPI, Flow Meter and Control Valve Sizing Software.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and design reviews, and conduct FAT for control systems.
- Support the Lead C&I Engineer with Technical Bid Evaluations. Reviews vendor documentation and comments to ensure design conformance.
- Communicate with project stakeholders, such as clients, vendors, and contractors, to ensure clear expectations and timelines. Ensure that components are delivered as specified, on time, and within budget.
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and civil engineers to ensure that C&I systems integrate well with other aspects of the project.
- Prepare regular progress reports and ensure timely documentation of any design or scope changes.
- Identify potential project risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes.
- Ensure all designs and implementations comply with local, national, and international standards (e.g., IEC, ISA, API etc).
- Ensure compliance with Kent’s ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures.
- Comply with other Kent accredited frameworks such as ISO 14000.
Key Requirements:
- Delivery of instrumentation and automation engineering deliverables for oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical projects.
- Application of international codes, standards and project specifications.
- Production, review and verification of P&IDs and process control documentation.
- Execution of instrument sizing calculations using recognised engineering software.
- Participation in 3D model reviews and resolution of instrumentation issues.
- Development and validation of Smart Plant Instrumentation data.
- Support to project risk assessments and automation workflows.
- Compliance with project quality management systems and HSE requirements.
- Coordination with multidisciplinary interfaces to complete agreed deliverables.
- Provision of clear technical documentation and professional communication.
