Kent is looking for an Onshore Pipeline Engineer who will be responsible for the production of engineering deliverables for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically works as a Pipeline engineer reporting to the Lead or Senior Pipeline Engineer on a feasibility concept FEED detailed design or EPC project. May include checking the work of Designers. Responsible for communicating technical / project issues potentially impacting on delivery to the Lead or Senior Pipelines Engineer.
The Onshore Pipeline Engineer is typically accountable to the Lead Engineer depending on size and complexity of the Project. Corporate reporting line is to respective Departmental / Group Manager. You will form part of a new Pipelines Delivery team to work closely and collaboratively with Kent’s existing Subsea and Pipelines Team to deliver and execute onshore and offshore pipeline projects.

The UK Engineering group will support a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon / Energy Transition (CCUS Green Hydrogen Blue Hydrogen Offshore Wind Waste to X Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects. Being confidently hands on particularly as we grow collaborative (including international workshare and teamworking) and committed to a long‑term career within a high performing and close team are some of the key qualities we are seeking. We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working for our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering and Consulting.
We follow a hybrid working model that combines office and remote work with a requirement to be in the Woking office four days a week. This approach supports the development of a strong and effective team dynamic within Engineering.
Skills & Responsibilities
- Technically responsible for preparation of project deliverables. With experience and supervision of Senior Engineer will check designer work.
- May help deliver smaller Pipeline FEED studies; and with experience gained will learn to originate the pipeline activities including: Philosophies Specifications Routing Studies Mechanical Design Material Selection Corrosion Protection Stress Analysis Layouts Drawings Datasheets and Technical Requisitions & Bid Evaluations.
- Responsible for the input to the Pipelines Deliverables Register. May be delegated tasks across the pipelines project team including basic planning / scheduling the pipeline engineering & design activities and project controls / reporting input to Project Management.
- Checking the work of the designers.
- Learning to identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract under the supervision of the lead / principal engineer.
- Ensures compliance with Kent’s ISO accredited QMS and project specific procedures guides and standards.
- In consultation with allocated Group Manager and / or Pipelines TA / SME takes responsibility for identifying own development needs and ensuring that agreed development goals are met taking due cognisance of project commitments.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein the employee may be required to perform other ad‑hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee’s skills capabilities and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee’s current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge / skills education and experience
- Typically holds a Masters Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in Mechanical Civil Structural Naval Architecture or similar engineering discipline.
- Must be a member / associate member of a Professional Engineering Institution and be working towards Chartered Status.
- Exposure to FEED / detailed design and EPC projects.
- Experience of working for engineering / client organizations in the onshore / offshore oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of subsea pipelines is also useful.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of pipeline engineering and of regulatory frameworks codes and standards.
- Experience in design and analysis of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in the Low Carbon sector is considered advantageous.

- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
