Kent is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Geophysicist/Geoscientist to join our Ground Modelling team. You will be part of a growing team dedicated to delivering effective and economical solutions to complex geophysical and geotechnical energy projects across the globe. Your role will be pivotal in supporting clients with site investigations, developing ground models and reducing risks, generating options, and driving key decisions across the full lifecycle of offshore wind, oil & gas and energy infrastructure projects.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Survey Management: Provide client representative support, ensure quality control of survey data, and contribute to survey specifications, tender evaluations and survey management.
  • Ground Modelling: Develop integrated ground models incorporating and interpreting geophysical, hydrographical, geological and geotechnical datasets. Ensure these models provide a comprehensive overview of site morphology, geology, geohazards, and uncertainties. Incorporate public data and identify anthropogenic constraints where applicable.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate ground risks early in projects. Develop risk registers and conceptual designs to inform decision-making processes.
  • Project Management: Engage in various stages of site characterisation, from early desk studies and preliminary ground models to detailed design and foundation options.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Respectful, effective and trust building client and stakeholder management. Collaborate and integrate with other teams, focusing on offshore foundation design, marine advisory, survey management, and research & development. Mentor junior team members and support the development of the team’s capability.
  • Sales and Proposals: Contribute to sales and preparation of bid proposals.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Educational Background: A degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering Geology. MSc or higher degree.
  • Professional Experience: Proven experience in ground modelling and survey management in offshore, nearshore as well as onshore environments. Offshore wind experience is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge and experience of interpretation of geophysical, geological and geotechnical data and hydrographic datasets. Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools used in ground modelling, e.g. Kingdom, DUG and GIS. Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating ground and project risks. Capable of making informed decisions based on complex data analysis. Knowledge and experience of offshore site investigations, survey management and preparation of survey scope and specifications. Data processing, e.g. seismic processing, is desirable. Knowledge of Quaternary and glacial geology is desirable. Knowledge and experience in quantitative geophysical methods is desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills. Additional languages would be a bonus.
  • Behaviour/ Core Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well within discipline teams, multidisciplinary teams as well as independently. Excellent reporting skills. Comfortable communicating to clients and other stakeholders, understanding their requirements and proposing solutions. Open, hands-on, problem-solving and commercial mindset.
