Graduate Safety Engineer – Kent, Glasgow
About the role
Graduate Safety Engineer to support delivery of safety commissions in the Energy sector. Based in Glasgow. Expected to support client projects and operations in Oil & Gas and renewable industries.
Key responsibilities
- Technical input for project delivery; build on tradition of technical excellence.
- Conduct technical safety studies (consequence analysis, QRA, Formal Safety Assessments, Safety Case/COMAH) for major hazard industries.
- Consequence modelling using software such as PHAST.
- Technical report authorship.
- Participation in HAZIDs, HAZOPS, LOPAs and other risk assessment workshops.
- Project management to ensure studies and projects are delivered in compliance with agreed scopes, budgets and schedules.
- Contributing to proposals and tenders.
- Direct engagement with clients and developing strong relationships with existing and future clients.
- Participation in innovation projects to continually streamline our toolkits for improvement in our deliverables.
Ad‑hoc tasks may be required as needed within the reasonable scope of the employee\’s skills and role.
Required qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred. Alternative Engineering or Science degrees will be considered if a Postgraduate Course in Safety has been completed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with others in the team as well as clients.
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.
- High level of MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and methodical in approach to project work.
- Self‑motivated and comfortable taking responsibility across a range of tasks.
- A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
- Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.
