About the job :

Kent is looking for a Graduate Naval Architect Engineer to be based in London.

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference and engineer solutions that make not only the UK’s energy security stronger but actively impact the way in which the world drives towards a net zero future.

Our Naval Architecture teams across the UK operate globally in both the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas markets working towards reducing carbon emissions. As a graduate in one of our locations you will be contributing to a variety of technically challenging and exciting projects from designing new offshore wind farms substations and floating concept designs to supporting our clients through the range of consultancy services we offer including feasibility studies concept and sizing and life extensions.

You will be joining a team spread across various UK locations that actively encourage and foster innovative solutions and new approaches to our clients problems. It should be highlighted that the majority of the Naval Architecture team are based in our London office and this would be our preferred location for graduate development. You will be joining a RINA accredited Graduate Scheme to help you towards chartership.

Hybrid Working

We follow a hybrid working model that combines office and remote work with a requirement to be in the offices three days a week. This approach supports the development of a strong and effective team dynamic.

Skills & Responsibilities :

  • Design and analysis of floating and fixed offshore structures. This could be fixed and floating offshore wind turbines semi-submersibles FPSO / FLNG vessels across the life of the asset from concept study through to decommissioning.
  • Analysis of vessels and offshore structures using techniques including: hydrodynamic analysis mooring analysis stability analysis transportation analysis and structural assessments.
  • Learning to use tools such as: DNV SESAM (inc. GeniE HydroD SIMA & Riflex) Orcina Orcaflex and Python.
  • Interfacing directly with clients representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • Supporting our external markets business development and work winning activities.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee\’s skills capabilities and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee\’s current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Yourknowledge / skillseducationandexperience :

  • Masters / MEng degree in Naval Architecture Maritime Engineering or Ship Science.

Communication :

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with others in the team as well as clients.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behaviour / Core Competencies :

  • High level of MS Office skills including Word Excel Outlook & Teams.
  • Flexible enthusiastic and methodical in your approach to project work.
  • Self-motivated & comfortable taking responsibility across a range of tasks.
  • A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach challenging yourself to find new solutions.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.
  • A passion for working in a consultancy environment.
