Kent’s Environment Team welcomes expressions of interest from experienced environmental professionals to support the team’s growth and workload. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact and support the sustainable energy transition.

We welcome interest from UK-based environmentalists who specialise in managing permits, licenses, consents and approvals in the energy sector. This includes coordinating environmental assessments/appraisals, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders and preparing application documents.

We are particularly interested in hearing from professionals with skills and experience in any of the following:

  • Coordinating environmental assessments, including complex Environmental Impact Assessments
  • A solid understanding and experience in navigating a range of consenting regimes, such as: Development Consent Orders; Town and Country Planning Act; Electricity Act; Infrastructure Consents Order; Marine Licensing, Environmental Permits etc
  • Experience in the UK Energy Sector, including one or more of: transmission and distribution; carbon capture and decarbonisation infrastructure; oil and gas; hydrogen; sustainable aviation fuel; offshore wind; energy from waste; energy storage and data centres.
  • Experience in supporting projects throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility, pre-application/pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, construction, and decommissioning.

Key Requirements:

The deliverables and services required will vary depending on the project and scope required. However, at a broad basis, the following will be required:

  • Report writing to a high standard, for both internal and external audiences
  • Close liaison with internal and external project stakeholders
  • Effective communication within engineering project teams
  • Management of and/or input to Project Management documents
