About the job

Kent is looking for an HSSE Advisor – UK to be based in Aberdeen.

Reporting to the HSSE Assurance Director, you will play a critical role in the implementation of the certified HSSE management system across all offices within UK operations.

Responsibilities will involve verifying and analysing HSSE performance, conducting assurance monitoring, developing and supporting HSSE improvement strategies, and working with our proposal’s teams in support of winning new work.

You will also take an active role in the continued professional development of HSSE champions resources, providing coaching and guidance on development activities, and providing formative feedback.

You will directly report to the HSSE Assurance Director and have a functional reporting line to the Operations Director Other interfaces include:

  • Internal
  • Country Management & and other department managers / heads.
  • Interface with Proposals over winning work.
  • External
  • ISO Certification Audit body.
  • International SOS.
  • CBRE.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the organisation’s vision and objectives are understood throughout UK operations.
  • Support the development of company health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, ensuring lessons learned and best practices are embedded in the ‘Kent Way’.
  • Assure the maintenance of compliance obligations for each country within the UK operations.
  • Assure the effectiveness of the HSSE risk management process across all offices in the UK operations.
  • Support country management with the implementation of the management system and maintaining ISO certification.
  • Develop and deliver an internal audit schedule to assure management system compliance across the designated operations.
  • Monitor the implementation of HSSE monitoring across offices to include the effectiveness of audits and inspections.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported correctly and sufficiently investigated to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and verify the effective and timely closeout of corrective actions.
  • Provide independent investigation guidance and support for the investigation of High Potential and Recordable incidents.
  • Support HSSE training delivery at all offices across the UK operations.
  • Support emergency response arrangements across UK operations.
  • Support the winning of new work through HSSE contributions for bid submissions.
  • Validate HSSE performance data and prepare accurate HSSE performance reports to established timeframes.
  • Monitor HSSE performance indicators, supporting the development and implementation of improvement strategies.
  • Analyse trends in HSSE performance across the region, advising on areas of concern and potential improvement areas.
  • Support management on the development of office specific objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Support the continued professional development of HSSE champions.
  • Support management with developing a proactive HSSE culture based on partnering, coaching and collaboration.
  • Provide subject matter HSSE advice to partners in their remit.
  • Advise actions based on outcomes of DSE assessments.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification

  • NEBOSH General certificate. NEBOSH Diploma Preferred or working towards.
  • Lead Auditor ISO 14001:2015 or ISO 45001:2018.
  • Experience of effective HSSE risk management and the hierarchy of controls.
  • Experience of developing compliance obligations in differing geographies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards and effective auditing.
  • Experience of developing effective HSSE management system procedures.
  • Experience of effective root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of OSHA incident classifications and incident frequency rate formulae.
  • Experience in developing and delivering effective HSSE training packages.
  • Experience of coaching HSSE champions in continued professional development.

Communication

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience of managing teams.
