We are looking for an EYFS teacher who is passionate about working with pupils with Autism and who has the energy and enthusiasm to deliver creative and inspirational lessons. The staff at the school are creative and compassionate, the provision is designed to the needs of the learners and the work environment is welcoming and supportive.
You need to ensure the quality of teaching and learning meets statutory requirements. You will need to work effectively within the transdisciplinary team to contribute to joint planning of the curriculum, which could include practical sensory approaches to learning and teaching. You will be responsible for high quality, autism specific education and development of a class / group of pupils with ASD enabling all pupils to make progress.
We encourage applicants with knowledge of Early Years and the Primary Curriculum to apply. Applicants must have a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring a curriculum is delivered to maximise pupils' progress. This is a full-time role that requires the same teacher each day and is not suitable for a job share. Due to the nature of the role, ECTs will only be considered if they have relevant SEN knowledge/experience.
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching within EYFS
- Proven experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Strong understanding of early child development and SEND best practice
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and sensory processing needs
Desirable:
- Additional SEN qualifications or ASD-specific training
- Experience in specialist or resource provision settings
