Voluntary position

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Board of Trustees, to play a key role in ensuring that Kent Students’ Union is effectively governed, well-managed, and meets its objectives in alignment with our charitable purpose, vision, and values. Also to provide strategic leadership to guide the organisation, ensuring the successful delivery of our goals through our 2025-2028 Strategy.

We are looking for a creative or strategic thinker, with a future-thinking focus. You will be highly collaborative and will be committed to advising, supporting and empowering our team of elected student leaders and Senior Leadership Team. You could be from the world of arts, sports, social impact, business, charity, the commercial world, or a democratic organisation. We are especially interested in individuals with personal experience in sabbatical officer roles or those with excellent knowledge on Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity within an organisation.

Whatever your background you will be able to use your experience, skills and networks to support our vision.

External Trustees have a particular responsibility to:

• Use their particular knowledge, skills and experience to improve the decision-making of the Board and its Committees

• Support, advise and empower the student and officer trustees

• Act as mentors, as required, for new, less experienced trustees
