Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH

Salary: $42,357 - $46,889

Basic Function: Form and nurture relationships with key external and internal partners. Collaborate with partners to identify training needs. Serve as part of a team to support workforce development in regions served by Kent State University. Reports to designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Conduct in-person sales calls, on-site consultations; travel regionally to share information and close business sales.
  • Engage in proactive business development activities to identify and cultivate new clients, including initial outreach to organizations with no prior relationship.
  • Represent the university at industry events, employer sites, and community meetings to generate leads, expand networks, and increase visibility of university services.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques to diagnose organizational workforce challenges and recommend appropriate university programs, short-term training, and customized solutions.
  • Manage sales pipeline, from lead generation through contract execution that aligns to established revenue and engagement goals.
  • Prepare and present proposals, contracts, pricing, and training plans that align organization's needs and the university's solutions.
  • Maintain client records using client relationship management (CRM) software to track contacts, meetings, opportunities, and outcomes.
  • Participate in product evaluation utilizing unit evaluation tools as well as client feedback and suggest product revision, new products, and products to be sunset as appropriate.
  • Meet and track performance toward established sales goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership and marketing to create and distribute marketing materials promoting products.
  • Nurture long-term client relationships through regular follow-up, on-site engagement, and identification of repeat or expanded business opportunities.
  • Contribute to overall unit effectiveness by sharing market intelligence, supporting team goals, and continuously improving sales and outreach practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Two years' experience in outreach, sales, training and development, or related experience. Ability to travel regionally.

Skill In: Written and interpersonal communication, Sales, Adhering to deadlines, Utilizing client relationship management (CRM) software

Ability To: Maintain client relationships, Possess considerable attention to detail, Maintain a high level of customer service, Ensure consistent progress toward established revenue and engagement goals, Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends, workforce needs, and university products to effectively position offerings in a competitive marketplace, Travel regionally.
