| Basic Function: | Directs, operates, and maintains powerhouse equipment on an assigned shift. Reports to Manager, Power Plant or other designated supervisor. |

| Examples of Duties: | Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Operates and instructs powerhouse workers in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of boilers, furnaces, and auxiliary equipment (i.e., turbines, blowers, flow meters, pumps, generators, fans, compressors, chillers and related equipment). |

| Minimum Qualifications: | High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training in stationary engineer program (or equivalent training or experience which provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities). License/Certification: Current third class license as a Stationary Steam Engineer issued by Ohio Department of Industrial Relations. Knowledge Of: Installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of powerhouse equipment * Skill In: Operating powerhouse equipment (e.g., gas, oil-fired boilers, turbines, electronic controls, etc.) * Ability To: Train and provide effective work direction to other employees |
| Preferred Qualifications β if applicable: | Experience working with coal, gas, and oil fired boilers preferred. |

| Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: | Powerhouse environment; continuous exposure to extreme levels of temperature, loud noise, fumes and potentially dangerous equipment (e.g., boilers), steam, gases, and potentially hazardous conditions (e.g., pressurized steam); requires considerable physical effort to include frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds (e.g., valves, motors), climbing, stooping, and kneeling; may work varied hours and shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays; may be called to work in emergency situations; may require off-campus travel. |
| Working Schedule: | Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.; however, schedule may vary to meet departmental needs. |
