Basic Function: THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY SEEKS A FULL TIME RESEARCH TECHNICIAN TO COORDINATE WETLAND RESTORATION MONITORING AS PART OF THE H2OHIO WETLAND MONITORING PROGRAM.

Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: THE TECHNICIAN WILL CONTRIBUTE TO SCIENCE-BASED DECISION MAKING TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY BY WORKING WITH A TEAM OF RESEARCHERS EVALUATING THE FUNCTION OF RESTORED AND CONSTRUCTED WETLANDS IN NORTHEAST OHIO. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL COORDINATE AND IMPLEMENT MONITORING ACTIVITIES IN H2OHIO WETLAND RESTORATION PROJECTS IN NORTHEAST OHIO. THE CANDIDATE WILL JOIN A DYNAMIC, SUPPORTIVE RESEARCH GROUP WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATION ACROSS DISCIPLINES AND ENGAGEMENT WITH STATE POLICY MAKERS, STAKEHOLDERS, AND PUBLIC AUDIENCES.

Minimum Qualifications: BACHELORS IN ECOLOGY, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, GEOLOGY, EARTH SCIENCE, CHEMISTRY, DATA SCIENCE, STATISTICS OR RELATED FIELD; STRONG INTERPERSONAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS; ABILITY AND MOTIVATION TO CULTIVATE A SUPPORTIVE AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT; EFFECTIVE AT WORKING BOTH INDEPENDENTLY AND AS A MEMBER OF A TEAM; EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION SKILLS. License/Certification: VALID U.S. DRIVER’S LICENSE.

Preferred Qualifications: MASTERS OR PH.D. IN ECOLOGY, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, GEOLOGY, EARTH SCIENCE, CHEMISTRY, DATA SCIENCE, STATISTICS OR RELATED FIELD; EXPERIENCE WITH ONE OR MORE COMMON ECOSYSTEM ECOLOGY TOOLS, INCLUDING ANALYTICAL SOIL, SEDIMENT, OR WATER ANALYSES, FIELD SAMPLING AND EXPERIMENTATION, AND SENSOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT AND MAINTENANCE; DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE COMMUNICATING WITH AND TO BOTH TECHNICAL AND NON-TECHNICAL AUDIENCES INCLUDING SCIENTISTS, CONSERVATION PROFESSIONALS, ECOSYSTEM MANAGERS, LANDOWNERS, THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND/OR OTHER STAKEHOLDERS; COMPETENCY IN DATA MANAGEMENT, SYNTHESIS, AND ANALYSIS.
