Kent State University's Department of Computer Science is seeking applicants to fill a tenure-track position in the broad field of artificial intelligence with a particular focus on natural language processing, large language models, large foundation models, explainability, fairness, and prompt engineering.

The successful applicant will be expected to establish a funded research program, engage in collaborative research, direct theses and dissertations, and teach and mentor students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Expected qualifications include a Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. We encourage strong applicants with industrial experience, as well as related post-doctoral trainees. The position is available at the assistant professor rank. Candidates at the associate professor level will be considered but will be expected to have a history of extramural funding.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
