Basic Function:

To provide comprehensive career support and develop career related resources for students, alumni, and other constituencies. This position will be a liaison for multiple specific student populations. Reports to designated supervisor.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Utilize both formal and informal career development tools to provide individual and group career advising to students, alumni, and community members.
Educate aforementioned populations regarding career motivation, investigation, decision-making, goal setting, professional acumen, networking, and searching for internships/jobs.
Convey the importance of purposeful major selection connected to future career goals.
Provide advice to students and alumni on job/internship search support materials including resumes/CVs, cover letters, and social media footprint.
Initiate special programming and projects based upon the changing needs of students and marketplace trends.
Increase engagement in services through strategic marketing and the establishment of effective partnerships across campus.
At the request of faculty/staff, prepare and deliver interactive presentations, in-person and web-based, to various majors and class years on topics including, but not limited to, career exploration, graduate school preparation, interview and employment search techniques, and resume and cover letter writing.
Plan, develop, and deliver customized presentations to a variety of groups including high school students and their parents, student organizations, regional campus students, and more.
Write and update career related material for use in print, web, and social media.
Support, consult and collaborate with University community members (colleges/schools, student services offices, student organizations, parents) to acquire and provide input to develop resources, training and services to more effectively meet career planning needs of students.
Support training of graduate assistants, career peers and practicum students.
Provide support and staff job fairs and campus-wide events/programming.
Serve as liaison to at least one academic college or to multiple specific student populations.
Participate in special committees and projects.
Benchmark programs and outcomes against peer and aspirant institutions to set effective goals; stay abreast of trends and best practices through workshops, etc.; and assess participation.
Engage in professional development and delivery of presentations as member of Ohio Career Development Association, National Career Development Association, National Association of Colleges and Employers or other related professional organization.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, business, communications, or related field required.

License/Certification:

Knowledge Of:

Career and academic assessment and career development principles
Contemporary job search practices
Current trends/challenges related to career development

Skill In:

Development and delivery of engaging presentations *
Written/verbal and interpersonal communication *
Interpreting career assessments including but not limited to SDS, Focus 2, Card Sorts, MBTI *
Incorporating the use of technology and social media to market and provide services *

Ability To:

Work independently and as part of a team in a self-directed manner
Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments
Network and collaborate with diverse groups of constituents including students, parents, faculty/staff, etc.
Support occasional evening and weekend programming
Establish rapport and effectively assist diverse groups of constituents

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Three months of experience (may be intern/practicum student experience) providing career planning assistance in a college or university related setting.
