This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to deal with a wide variety of enquiries from members of the public, as well as colleagues and partner agencies. You will be expected to take relevant information or detailed reports for further investigation and dissemination to appropriate departments or agencies for further action.

Enquiries can include but are not limited to:

  • Taking accurate and detailed reports of crime (either recent or historic)
  • Dealing with bail signers
  • Sign posting queries to correct agencies
  • Dealing with post and deliveries for the station

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working with the public, sometimes in a pressurised situation, and of providing a high standard of service delivery. Candidates will be able to provide evidence that supports the ability to treat people with dignity and respect, regardless of the circumstances or situation.

The successful candidate will be expected to take personal responsibility for making sure they work effectively to deliver the best service to the public, both individually and with others. They will also be able to make independent decisions and multi-task, inspiring confidence in the public they are helping.

It is essential that they also work well as part of a team, including the wider Public Enquiry Department, as well as with all colleagues within Kent Police. Candidates will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of delivering customer service and following policy and protocols to achieve the best outcomes.

The ability to be responsive to continuous change and expectations is also essential, this relates to both the public and the policing environment. Applicants will need to provide evidence of keyboard skills and an understanding of computer systems as this is a key part of the role. Training will be provided for any database that is unfamiliar; however, knowledge of police systems such as STORM, Athena and the Police National Computer (PNC) would be an advantage.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £29,424.00.
