An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Hydra Technician within the Crime Training team at Essex Police. Applications are invited from those with experience in IT systems and an imagination around product design and development. This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to facilitate the development, design and production of computer simulated training scenarios for all levels of staff, both internal and external, assisting and supporting the course director involved in the management of a variety of incidents, ensuring the scenarios are realistic and relevant and providing support to the Hydra facility as required. The successful candidate will also need to be organised and flexible as the college supports their operational colleagues during critical incidents and can be called upon outside of their normal working hours.
The Hydra facility is based at Essex Police College within the Headquarters site in Springfield, Chelmsford. The location is easily accessible by road and public transport and there is some parking available on site on a 'first come first served' basis.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate the development, design and production of computer simulated training scenarios.
- Assist and support the course director in managing a variety of incidents.
- Ensure scenarios are realistic and relevant.
- Provide support to the Hydra facility as required.
- Ensure all computers, audio/video, multimedia equipment and peripherals are installed and maintained in good working order.
- Produce regular package reports from NCALT and DevelopMe.
- Maintain maximum availability of equipment throughout the duration of a course.
- Proven track record in programming environments with an ability to undertake detailed analysis and design of material.
- Ability to gather sufficient valid, reliable and consistent information towards organisational objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of one or more network environments with ability to diagnose and resolve performance and fault issues.
- Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in training and utilizing IT to support various learning methods.
- Prior knowledge of Police environment and policy.
- Resident in the UK and have lived continuously for the last three years (if not from the UK).
- Free from restrictions with indefinite leave to remain (applicable to overseas applicants).
- Office-based agile worker: predominantly works in an assigned office area with some work at home or other police site locations.
- Must regularly attend the contractual workplace as agreed with line manager.
