About the job: Kent is looking for a Principal Onshore Pipeline Engineer who will be responsible for leading the production of engineering deliverables and providing progress reporting for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically, works as a Lead Pipeline engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager on a feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC project. Supervising and checking the work of other engineers. Responsible for communicating technical / project issues potentially impacting the project to the Engineering and Project Manager. The Principal Onshore Pipeline Engineer is typically accountable to the Engineering Manager and/or Project Manager, depending on size and complexity of the Project. Corporate reporting line is to respective Departmental / Group Manager. You will form part of a new Pipelines Delivery team to work closely and collaboratively with Kent’s existing Subsea and Pipelines Centre of Excellence to deliver and execute onshore and offshore pipeline projects. This is part of a recruitment drive to develop and grow our Front End and General Engineering capability in the UK. We are seeking high caliber people for this key Engineering role that have talent, enthusiasm and drive to influence and be part of our exciting expansion plan. The UK Engineering group will support a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon / Energy Transition (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Waste to X, Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects. Being confidently hands on particularly as we grow, collaborative (including international workshare and teamworking) and committed to a long-term career within a high performing and close team are some of the key qualities we are seeking. We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working, for our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering and Consulting. Skills & Responsibilities: Technically responsible for Pipeline scope and allocating, supervising and directing preparation of project deliverables. Subject to project size, will delegate some level of supervision and specific checking activities to appropriate competent personnel. Leading a team to deliver Pipeline FEED studies; supervising, reviewing and checking the pipeline activities including: Philosophies, Specifications, Routing Studies, Mechanical Design, Material Selection, Corrosion Protection, Stress Analysis, Layouts, Drawings, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions & Bid Evaluations. Responsible for the preparation of the Pipelines Deliverables Register and allocates tasks across the pipelines project team. Responsible for planning/scheduling the pipeline engineering activities and person resources. Quantifies the total number of engineering deliverables, resource-hour allocation and format of delivery, and other requirements for execution of the work. Provides necessary regular project controls / reporting input to Project Management. Supervising and checking the work of other engineers. Identifying and resolving discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract under the supervision of the lead / principal engineer. Contributing to successful proposals and tenders, including reviewing ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, preparing resource hour estimates and writing technical proposals. Ensures compliance with Kent’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards. In consultation with allocated Group Manager and/or Pipelines TA/SME takes responsibility for identifying own development needs and ensuring that agreed development goals are met taking due cognisance of project commitments. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee\’s skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee\’s current workload and with respect to their professional development. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Typically holds a Master’s Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Naval Architecture or similar engineering discipline. Chartered status preferred. Exposure to FEED / detailed design and EPC projects. Strong experience of working for engineering / client organizations in the onshore / offshore oil and gas industry. Understanding of the fundamentals of subsea and pipeline engineering, and of regulatory frameworks, codes, and standards. Experience in design and analysis of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in the Low Carbon sector is considered advantageous. Communication: Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills Behaviour/ Core Competencies: Proven success in delivering projects and preparing clear, concise deliverables against time, cost, and quality objectives. Enthusiasm to challenge existing practices, improve technical methodologies. Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and mature approach to work. Good coordination, monitoring and supervisory skills.
