As a SAS Psychiatrist in Liaison Psychiatry based at Maidstone Hospital in Kent, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality clinical service and actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust providing a full range of general hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the South of West Kent and parts of North East Sussex. The Liaison Psychiatry Service provides a single point of contact for the mental health needs of patients attending the Emergency Department or admitted to the general hospital. In this role, you will work jointly with Consultant Liaison Psychiatrists and share operational and clinical leadership of the team to ensure that the sites are suitably covered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the Liaison Psychiatry Service.
- Provide professional leadership, including clinical leadership, to the Liaison Multidisciplinary Team.
- Ensure effective liaison occurs between mental health services and the acute hospital, and also with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and either have or be working towards S12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
