As an integral and highly valued member of the Rehab multi-disciplinary team, the Peer Support Practitioner will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users to promote choice, and work with them to regain control over their lives. The role supports recovery within the team and involves working with service users on a 1-1 and/or group basis.
Responsibilities
- Build strong, supportive relationships with service users.
- Help service users set realistic and positive goals and empower them to live fuller, more fulfilling lives.
- Support the group programme by sharing your own experiences.
- Develop the service and involve users in this process.
- Complete a range of administrative tasks.
- Liaise widely with other staff and services within the community.
- Promote awareness of mental health and reduce stigma.
- Contribute to the development of the Peer Support Practitioner role, particularly within mental health services.
Qualifications
- Background of personally recovering from mental health issues and willingness to share own life experiences.
- Experience of using mental health services.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car/vehicle for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
