An exciting opportunity has arisen within the East Kent Community Rehabilitation Service at Rivendell. The team requires a Deputy Unit Manager and the successful candidate should be an enthusiastic and motivated registered mental health nurse with sound knowledge and skills to take on this challenging but rewarding role. This is a permanent post so would be an ideal opportunity for an individual wanting to develop their leadership skills. Rivendell is situated in Eastry, near Sandwich, and is one of six Rehabilitation Units across Kent, which provides specialist inpatient rehabilitation for individuals with complex mental health and psychological needs. The unit comprises 10 single bedrooms and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The multidisciplinary team provides a wide range of individualized interventions delivered by nursing, medical, psychological, occupational therapy and peer support clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise staff effectively.
  • Provide high‑quality care with compassion alongside experienced and friendly professionals.
  • Use clinical expertise to improve practice, challenge tradition and create a culture of therapeutic optimism and hope.
  • Develop staff and support the delivery of services recommended to families, carers and friends.

Qualifications

  • Registered mental health nurse.
  • Working knowledge of serious and enduring mental health conditions, such as complex psychosis, is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence, enthuse and enable; a role model who leads from the front.
