This is a teaching-focused role dedicated to delivering high-quality resuscitation and clinical deterioration education across all KMMH locations. The primary purpose of the post is to equip healthcare staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise and respond effectively to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest and patient deterioration.

The post holder will play a key role as an educator and facilitator, using a variety of teaching methods, including simulation-based learning, practical workshops, and classroom teaching, to support staff development. Working within a mental health setting, the role requires the ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit staff who may have limited exposure to acute medical emergencies, ensuring learning is accessible, relevant, and engaging. This includes delivering context-specific simulation scenarios, such as deterioration related to self-harm or mental health crises.

The post holder will create a supportive and psychologically safe learning environment, recognising that simulation and emergency training can be challenging. They will lead sensitive, structured debriefs that promote reflection, learning, and staff wellbeing.

In addition to teaching, the role includes supporting clinical safety through maintaining resuscitation standards and equipment, while contributing to a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement, and patient safety across the Trust.

  • Deliver high-quality education and training in adult and paediatric resuscitation in line with Resuscitation Council UK standards.
  • Facilitate engaging teaching sessions using a range of methods, including simulation, scenario-based learning, and practical skills training.
  • Design and deliver education on early recognition and management of deteriorating patients, tailored to mental health settings.
  • Develop staff confidence and competence through supportive teaching, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Lead simulation training and structured debriefs, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all staff.
  • Assess learning needs and monitor competence, supporting compliance with national and Trust standards.
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous professional development across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain and support resuscitation equipment standards to ensure training reflects real clinical practice.
  • Contribute to the development of educational resources, including digital and blended learning materials.
  • Support supervision, mentorship, and appraisal processes, with a focus on staff development and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and stakeholders to continuously improve the quality and impact of training programmes.
  • Contribute to policy development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives related to resuscitation and patient safety.
  • Deputise for the Band 7 Resuscitation Officer when required.
