The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

  • Provide stop smoking support throughout pregnancy and the post-natal period

  • Work with the Smoking in Pregnancy Specialist Midwife

  • Assist with administration of the smokefree pregnancy data collection and collation

  • Order and maintain stocks of nicotine replacement therapy

  • Promote the general health and wellbeing

  • Develop and implement stop smoking services in a range of health and community settings.

  • Work with minimal indirect supervision

  • Escalate and record any possible safeguarding issues

The post holder will support pregnant smokers and family members to quit smoking through weekly appointments. This will include helping them to manage cravings and offering Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to aid their quit journeys. All training to become a level 2 trained Smokefree Advisor will be provided, unless already trained. Experience in Maternity Services and/or Public Health is desirable so that the post holder can effectively signpost to other support available.

We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with women and their families in a supportive role, someone who is positive about life and holds a passion for helping others to help themselves. The post holder will help women to make a difference in their pregnancies and the lives of their families. The post holder should recognize that some families can have complex and multifactorial issues often requiring support from other services and agencies. Good communication skills are essential for this role.

The post holder will have their own caseload of pregnant people to support over a two to three month period and will manage the caseload with minimal support from the Smoking in Pregnancy Midwife. A flexible attitude and ability to travel between hospital sites, other community hubs and patient’s homes is essential.
