Location: Borough Green

Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work some evenings and weekends)

Base salary: Grade 5: £32,461 - £36,482 per annum

Pension: Automatic membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme – career average pension scheme with 18.5% employer contribution

Holidays: In addition to entitlement to bank/public holidays you will receive 29 days

Being a Safe and Well Officer, do you want to help people feel safe in their homes? The primary focus of this role is to reduce the risk of fire in customers’ homes. The post holder will carry out door-to-door engagement at identified addresses, proactively offering and completing home fire safety visits. A person-centred approach is applied to all visits, taking into account the customer, their environment, and individual behaviours. The role of a Safe and Well Officer is a predominantly lone working role. An enhanced DBS check will be undertaken before an offer of appointment can be made.

What you’ll do:

  • Visit customers in their homes and assess the risk of fire
  • Offer and fit free fire prevention equipment
  • Where required, work alongside multi-agencies to ensure the customer has a holistic package of support
  • Work closely with KFRS safeguarding team to ensure vulnerable customers are appropriately supported

You will have a local base station but will be required to work county wide and have use of a fire service vehicle.
