Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex and varied caseload
  • Provide practice leadership, guidance and reflective support to colleagues
  • Contribute to training and development initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with partner agencies
  • Represent Children’s Services in court and multi‑agency forums
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of child development theory, legislation, policy and practice, sharing learning across the team
  • Act as a role model, supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues and contributing to the development of high‑quality social work practice across the team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professionally registered Social Worker, holding a recognised qualification (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), with a range of post‑qualification experience working with children and families
  • Strong experience of systemic practice
  • An in‑depth understanding of legislative and policy frameworks
  • Confidence in managing complex cases and supporting best practice
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • A collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues and partner agencies across the statutory, voluntary and private sectors

The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
