The predicted salary is between 27000 - 33000 Β£ per year.

In this role, you will support the delivery of a range of compliance and emergency planning projects. You will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners, helping to co-ordinate planning, develop guidance, support exercises, and contribute to real-world emergency responses.

As a Project Officer, you will:

  • Support the planning and delivery of time-limited resilience, compliance and emergency planning projects, including monitoring progress against key milestones and deliverables.
  • Assist with the development, review, testing and exercising of emergency plans.
  • Help implement systems, procedures and guidance that strengthen organisational and community resilience.
  • Provide operational support during business continuity incidents and emergency responses, including secretariat and command-and-control support (this may occasionally involve out-of-hours work).
  • Support corporate and multi-agency forums through agenda preparation, minute taking, action tracking and document management.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement through research, horizon scanning and identifying better ways of working.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and partners, delivering a professional, customer-focused and empathetic service.
  • Undertake additional administrative and project-related tasks as required to support the wider service.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and professional, with a genuine interest in resilience, emergency planning and public service.

You will have:

  • A Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a public sector, emergency service or response-related environment.
  • Experience of supporting projects and working in partnership with others.
  • Strong written and presentational skills, adaptable to different audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Proven administrative, research and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.

You will also have (or be willing to develop):

  • An understanding of emergency planning and business continuity legislation, guidance and good practice.
  • Knowledge of Kent County Council, Kent's communities, or a strong willingness to learn.
