Kent County Council is looking for a Contracts Support Officer to join our Contracts and Commissioning Team within Highways and Transportation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery and compliance of major highway contracts that help keep Kent's roads safe and well maintained for residents, businesses, and visitors.

The vacancy is for a full‑time (37 hours a week) 12‑month secondment (for internal KCC candidates) or a 12‑month fixed‑term contract for external candidates. Work that works for you and us – let's talk flexibility!

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality administrative, project and contract support to ensure our Highway Maintenance and Professional Services contracts operate effectively and remain contractually compliant.
  • Work closely with senior managers, project managers, contractors and stakeholders across the organisation to help monitor performance, coordinate contract activities and support informed decision‑making.
  • This is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop expertise in contract management, performance monitoring, governance and stakeholder engagement.

Eligibility and Requirements

This post is considered customer‑facing, so the Council has a statutory duty under Part7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
