Are you looking for your next challenge? Do you want to work for a team that makes a real difference to bereaved people across Kent and Medway every single day? The Kent and Medway Coroner Service has undergone significant transformation in recent years. Operating from a purpose-built, co-located court and office complex since 2023, and following the merger of four coroner areas in 2025, we are now one of the largest coroner jurisdictions in England and Wales.

As a Coroners Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the Leadership Team, leading our operational workforce and helping to shape the future of a service that has undergone significant transformation in recent years. You'll provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring an efficient, effective, and high-quality service.

We're seeking an adaptable and resilient leader with strong people management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate sensitive and complex situations with empathy. Coroner Service experience is not essential. Full training and development will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational manager looking to develop specialist expertise in a unique and rewarding environment.

The role is full time and based in Maidstone, the service operates Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and by the nature of the role there is a need for office working but some remote working will be supported following a period of training and subject to service need. You will also need to attend training or provide advice and support when required outside of these hours and if required to participate in the duty manager rota.

In return, Kent County Council offers excellent development opportunities, supportive supervision, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and a comprehensive benefits package.
