At KCC's largest and busiest country park, we require a part‑time Country Park Warden to maintain the site and its facilities in a clean, safe and attractive state through litter picking, carrying out minor repairs, assisting and guiding visitors, enforcing site rules and reporting problems.

Work Schedule

The post is for alternate weeks, comprising 28 hours per week in summer and 23 hours per week in autumn/winter, with attendance at bi‑monthly one hour meetings. The average hours amount to 13.13 per week. Winter hours: one hour per day at dusk Monday to Friday, eight hours Saturday and eight hours on Sunday and bank holidays. Summer hours: two hours per day Monday to Friday (the two hours before dusk), eight hours Saturday and eight hours Sunday and bank holidays, plus an additional two hours per week patrolling the wider woodlands.

Responsibilities

You will be reliable and possess good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards customer care. The role requires you to attend the site at short notice in the event of emergencies. Key tasks include litter picking, minor repairs, assisting and guiding visitors, enforcing site rules and reporting problems.

Qualifications

A basic knowledge of the countryside is important, along with a flexible attitude to working hours and a level of fitness appropriate to the needs of the job. The role requires a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements, as set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
