The Children\’s Commissioning Team are looking for a proactive Commissioning Support Officer to help design, commission, and manage services that improve lives across Kent. The Commissioning Support Officer is an exciting new role within the Children\’s Commissioning Team. As a Commissioning Support Officer, you\’ll play a pivotal role in delivering the commissioning cycle, from start to finish, for services that make a real impact on the lives of children and families across Kent. Working alongside a team of dedicated Commissioners and working closely with colleagues across KCC, you\’ll lead on low-risk and low-value services/contracts, ensuring all activity is evidence-based, provides best value, and meets the needs of our communities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the commissioning process ensuring alignment with KCC\’s strategic outcomes.
  • Leading effective contract management to drive value and improve service outcomes.
  • Supporting service redesign initiatives to improve outcomes and engagement.
  • Administering low-value procurements and ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Undertaking research, data analysis, and forecasting to inform commissioning plans.

Requirements

  • Building positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, or a degree-level qualification and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A solid understanding of the commissioning process and relevant legislation (e.g., Children’s services, Adult Social Care and Public Health).
  • Proven experience in project management and working in partnership settings.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication abilities.
