The Kent Registration Service is looking for Celebratory Officers to register and conduct their civil ceremonies; these include marriages, civil partnerships, and renewal of vows. This is an opportunity to play a key part in a couple’s special day and is a wonderfully rewarding customer-facing role, giving you the opportunity to meet a wide range of people.

We have annualised hours contracts available across the county for 248 hours and 136 hours per annum. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments over the year regardless of the hours worked that month. The greatest proportion of the work will take place during peak ceremony times which under normal circumstances will be from June to September inclusive. You will be required to work Fridays and/or Saturdays dependent on your contractual hours. During your training period you will need to be flexible to consolidate your learning as there may not be sufficient ceremonies in your own district.

Celebratory Officers are mainly allocated to ceremonies at licensed venues, which provides the opportunity to work at a wide range of Kent’s beautiful ceremony venues. Whilst you will be allocated to a District base, the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential. You may also occasionally be allocated to ceremonies at Register Offices where required.

Candidates must be available to attend the following:

  • Assessment Days which will be held week commencing 16 February 2026
  • Interviews which will be held week commencing 2nd March 2026
  • Contracts start 1 April 2026.
  • Registration of Marriage Training for successful candidates which will take place on 11 May – 13 May 2026 OR 27 May – 29 May 2026 – dates to be confirmed with candidates
