About Family Hubs

Family Hubs are central to Kent County Council\'s support for children and young people aged 0-19 (or up to 25 with SEND), providing a welcoming space where families can access advice, guidance, and a wide range of early help services. These include midwifery, health visiting, parenting support, and engaging activities for children and young people. With 56 Family Hubs across Kent, we work collaboratively with partners to support our local communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and friendly Business Support Assistant to join our Thanet Family Hubs Service on a fixed-term basis. This 7-month contract runs until 31 March 2026, with a working schedule of 22 hours per week: Wednesday and Thursday from 08:30 to 16:30, and Friday from 08:30 to 16:00.

  • Greet and signpost families visiting the hubs
  • Provide administrative support to Family Hub Workers
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff, visitors, and partners
  • Support the opening and closing of hubs
  • Monitor Health & Safety processes and report building faults
  • Handle sensitive information and maintain accurate records
  • Arrange meetings and manage communications

Please note that this role requires in-person working and cannot be performed remotely. Travel across a large geographical area is required, which may not always be supported by public transport. This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence. The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments, so applications will be considered even if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

Interviews will include a 1-hour interview and a short administrative task, which will be emailed following the interview. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. As this is a customer-facing position, the ability to command spoken English/Welsh is required.
