The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are looking for a Band 6 Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist to join our North Kent MSK Physiotherapy Team. The North Kent Physiotherapy sites are Gravesend Community Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital. As a Senior Physiotherapist you will be expected to work across both sites and travel throughout Kent in a timely manner for training and to help meet service demands. Although full time hours are preferred, part time hours may be considered for the right candidate at a minimum of 30 hours a week over 4 days.

You will be able to consolidate and build on your skills with regular in-service training, clinical supervision and allocated personal CPD time; there are also Trust-wide Clinical Special Interest Groups available. We have an established appraisal system to actively support your Continued Professional Development. Following interview, it may be decided to offer this post as a band 5 development opportunity. It would be expected that this candidate, following a supported structured competency framework, would reach competence required for the band 6 role within a 6-month probationary period.

Main duties of the job:

  • To manage a complex caseload of patients and maintain appropriate records under the supervision of a clinical lead physiotherapist.
  • To develop and maintain a good level of skill and knowledge in MSK Physiotherapy.
  • To provide supervision and development of physiotherapy students, apprentices, assistants, band 5s and peers.
  • To be involved in some service development projects.
  • To be actively involved in the running and future service development of the patient group sessions as provided by the service e.g. Back rehabilitation Class, ESCAPE knee class, shoulder class and Pilates.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible, embrace change and innovation, work well under pressure and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Person specification:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Professional Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of continued professional development appropriate to role
  • Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Evidence of postgraduate education in specialist clinical area
  • Accreditation for Clinical education

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as Band 5/6 within Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
  • Experience leading exercise and education group sessions
  • Current or previous NHS experience
  • Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads
  • Supporting others (mentor/educator/supervisor) experience

Knowledge:

  • Wide ranging knowledge in MSK Physiotherapy
  • Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to care setting and its application across health care services
  • Knowledge of up to date clinical practice and current issues relating to the profession
  • Knowledge of the NHS and of the structure, roles and responsibilities of outside agencies e.g. Social Services

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups
  • Exercise prescription and manual handling skills
  • Good level of written and oral communication skills and documentation skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
