Overview
This is an exciting opportunity, available from February 2026, for a Specialty Doctor to join the team on the new Female PICU Ward (opening in April 2026), based at Littlestone Lodge, Dartford, Kent, DA2 6PB. The post will be based on the inpatient female PICU ward of Littlestone Lodge, a 10 bedded unit located next to Littlebrook Hospital. The female PICU ward will work closely with the male PICU ward to share learning, governance and good practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric care to patients admitted to the Female PICU ward.
- Provide medical input to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) on the ward.
- Support the Consultant in attending the Acute Pathway Meetings; ensure new admissions are assessed by a senior doctor with management plans in place within 24 hours of admission. The post holder has medical responsibility for inpatients on wards for which they are consultant.
- Seek the views of families and carers where practicable when making decisions about patient care and discharge.
- The post holder will not have responsibility for community work except for Mental Health Assessment out of hours, but will be expected to work collaboratively with community mental health teams.
