Vacancies Part Time ( days/week) £25/hour In Your Corner is a small charity that packs a big punch! We run group boxing projects for young people across London, which focus on developing boxing skills, as well as skills in managing emotions and behaviour, to improve emotional wellbeing. We combine non-contact boxing with evidence-based ideas from clinical psychology, delivered flexibly. We work with young people whom clinic-based services consider hard to engage, across a range of accessible community settings, including partnerships with schools, boxing gyms, and youth services. What We Are Looking For We are growing and are looking for Boxing Coaches to join our team. You will work alongside our clinical psychology team to co-deliver weekly group programmes for young people in community or school locations in Inner London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a coach who wants to extend their outreach coaching skills, is open to taking a different approach, and has an interest in supporting the emotional wellbeing of young people. We are a friendly team who are interested in delivering the highest quality service possible, and in our own professional development. Applicants need to enjoy and have extensive experience in coaching young people in boxing. Experience working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties is desirable. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm, understanding and commitment to a relational model of coaching which is psychologically and trauma informed. In Your Corner is a values-based organisation. Our values are Connection; being Inclusive; Effective; and Empowering. Our projects run during the school terms for 10 – 12 weeks. Sessions usually have 8 – 12 young people and run for 60 – 90 minutes depending on the group. We have projects that take place in schools during the school day and after school between 4:30 – 6:30pm. RESPONSIBILITIES ● To lead boxing components of group sessions for young people. ● To support clinical psychology staff in delivering social and emotion focused activities. ● To support the smooth running of group interventions via contributing to practical and ● Regular attendance at, and positive contribution to, group supervision meetings. ● To contribute to development of programme content and session plans. In Your Corner Charitable Trust – Registered Charity Number 1208856 ● To work with the Senior Leadership Team and other members of the staff team to build and maintain excellent working relationships with partner agencies. ● To work in keeping with principles of Safeguarding Children, confidentiality, and appropriate ● To work within all policies and processes of In Your Corner. PERSON SPECIFICATION ● Empathic and warm approach to working with young people with multiple challenges in their lives. ● Patient and understanding of young people with challenging behaviour. ● Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to form good working relationships with all team members and group participants. ● Openness to learning about psychologically informed ways of working. ● Ability to remain calm, tolerate frustration and uncertainty in what can be an unpredictable and emotive environment ● Ability to develop coaching style and take on constructive feedback. ● Consistent availability for project sessions, planning/debrief meetings, and group supervision. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE ● Boxing Coaching Qualification (England Boxing Level 1 or 2 desirable) ● Strong knowledge of boxing coaching ● Experience coaching young people (with social or emotional needs desirable) ● Qualification in Safeguarding Children and Young People, and excellent working knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and appropriate professional boundaries. ● Enhanced DBS – Children and Young People ● Youth work qualification and / or experience (desirable) FOR MORE INFORMATION See the role pack attached below.
