Due to continued business expansion, we are recruiting for Class 2 drivers to drive in and around the Greater Manchester area. Service-led since 1985, Kenny Waste Management simplifies sustainable waste disposal for thousands of businesses and households. We are a Manchester-based family business with a UK-wide reach, driving the future of our sector.
Your principal job duties will be:
- To take charge and be responsible for the vehicle and the collection team, and to ensure the completion of the daily work allocated.
- To undertake refuse collection as directed and other related waste service operations in accordance with the adopted schedules, procedures and policies.
- To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Service Specification and to ensure mistakes, such as missed collections, are rectified. Waste spillages must be cleaned up immediately after they occur.
- To maintain efficient and effective work performance in accordance with agreed policies and objectives.
- Provide and maintain effective working relationships and communications, both within the team and with members of the public, and to be always courteous.
- To undertake the driver maintenance of the vehicle allocated, which will include daily roadworthy checks and the reporting of defects.
- To undertake cleansing of the vehicle, including the inside of the cab, on a weekly basis, or more frequently as necessary if directed by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
- To drive at all times in a safe and courteous manner, within road and vehicle speed restrictions and strictly in accordance with the law.
- Comply with the rules, regulations and instructions of the site owner whilst attending the disposal facility.
- To complete all necessary documentation required.
- To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with safe working practices which will include the safe use of materials and equipment.
The parameters of this role are:
- Responsible for the health & safety of yourself and co-workers as a result of your actions whilst working in the main tipping yard and associated areas.
- Follow instruction given by the area supervisor, banksman and mobile plant drivers.
- The post holder is required to work outdoors for long periods of time in all weather conditions.
- The role is physically demanding; the post holder is required to carry out manual handling duties. The post holder must be physically fit enough to meet the demands of the job.
