Kenneth Brian Associates are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering specialist infrastructure projects across London and the South East. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of health, safety, and compliance across multiple live sites. This role is split approximately 80% office-based and 20% site-based, combining compliance responsibilities with regular site visits, ensuring the safe delivery of high-risk construction activities in an active, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain company HSE systems, policies, and procedures
  • Review, support, and contribute to RAMS for live site activities
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits across multiple projects
  • Manage key operational risks including excavation, confined spaces, lifting operations, and traffic management
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure accurate reporting (including RIDDOR where required)
  • Deliver toolbox talks and support site inductions
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and internal operational teams
  • Support external accreditations (e.g. CHAS, Constructionline)

About You

  • 4+ years Health & Safety experience within civils, groundworks, or utilities environments
  • Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities (excavation and confined spaces essential)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • CSCS card and full UK driving licence
  • Confident, practical, and comfortable working across active construction sites
  • Ability to influence site teams and promote a strong safety culture
