Part Time Financial Controller - 3 days per week office based

KennethBrian Associates are working exclusively with a well known business in their search for a Qualified Part time Financial Controller to lead a team of 5 staff.

The role involves taking ownership of the finance function and providing strategic financial insight to support continued growth. This is ideal for a qualified accountant seeking flexibility while contributing to a dynamic and evolving business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations including bookkeeping, management accounts, and cashflow.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Lead budgeting and financial planning processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with UK accounting standards.
• Improve finance systems, processes, and controls.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC.
• Manage VAT, payroll, and statutory compliance.
• Provide financial insight for decision-making and strategic planning.
• Support cost control, margin analysis, and profitability reviews.
• Advise on funding, capital expenditure, and investment planning.
• Prepare ad hoc reports for the board.
• Attend AGM and carry out company secretarial duties.

Skills & Experience Required

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in an SME environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, and payroll.
• Experience with cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
• Commercially astute with a hands-on, proactive approach.
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
