Quantity or Senior Quantity Surveyor – Reactive & Minor Works (Freelance) Location: 2-days per week in Colchester / 3-days working from home Contract Type: Freelance (Outside IR35) We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for a long-term freelance opportunity with a reputable and expanding main contractor. This organisation is well-regarded for delivering high-quality projects across the civil engineering and rail infrastructure sectors. Role Overview: You will be working within a reactive and minor works framework for Network Rail, overseeing multiple small-scale projects typically ranging from £1,000 to £200,000 in value. These are predominantly high-volume, low-value schemes, which may include emergency and urgent works. Key Responsibilities: Managing the commercial aspects of multiple concurrent projects Procuring and managing subcontractor packages Pricing and estimating works using a defined Schedule of Rates Administering contracts under NEC Option A Managing and assessing compensation events and variations Ongoing cost control and budget management Requirements: Proven experience working on reactive maintenance or minor works frameworks, ideally in a rail or infrastructure setting Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Familiarity with NEC contracts, particularly Option A Prior exposure to the rail sector is essential If this sounds like the right fit for your experience, please send across your CV and we’ll be in touch to discuss the opportunity further
