Our client are a leading Oil & Gas specialist and are looking to recruit a Qualified Group Financial Accountant for a 3 month contract. You must be immediately available to start as early as next week.
You will take an active role in the Group Finance team in providing high quality monthly, half-yearly and year-end consolidated financial results, detailed financial analysis and reconciliation.
Responsibilities / Key Objectives
- Preparation of the monthly consolidated reporting, ensuring adherence with guidelines, policies, and recommended accounting practice.
- Providing monthly analysis and insight related to actual reported results.
- Calculating and posting consolidation journals in the consolidation system.
- Assist finance teams in resolving any technical accounting and process issues or queries and in ensuring the monthly consolidation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Administration of the financial consolidation system (Cognos Controller) and monthly close activities.
- Provide guidance on technical accounting matters (including assist in the preparation of key documents and papers for consideration by the Audit Committee).
- Coordination and preparation of the half year and year end results disclosures and financial statements.
- Liaise with the auditors to ensure smooth and efficient running of the interim and year end audits.
- Co-ordinate the Group’s global statutory accounts process.
- Support in corporate projects, including annual intra-Group dividend process, Balance sheet re-org and step plans.
- Assist with Monthly Performance Reports as and when required.
- Analysis related to one-off business transactions.
- Assist with group-wide finance projects as required.
Education
Degree qualified and relevant certified or chartered accounting qualification.
Skills
- Understands and applies relevant accounting principles, IFRS, policies and processes.
- Understands the principles of effective financial systems.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- SAP Cognos controller (desirable).
