The business operates from a central European headquarters with additional teams across Europe, North America, and Asia. Core functions include finance, underwriting, client reporting, and global marketing, all supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.
Role Summary
The role is responsible for ensuring high-quality financial reporting, compliance with multiple accounting frameworks, and strong coordination with outsourced service providers, auditors, and internal stakeholders. The position plays a key role in statutory reporting, balance sheet integrity, and finance process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing general ledger journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and foreign currency adjustments, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and supporting documentation
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and consolidation files, ensuring completeness and accuracy of supporting schedules
- Acting as a subject matter expert for adjustments and disclosures under French GAAP, with exposure to UK and US GAAP requirements
- Reviewing financial statements prepared by outsourced accounting providers and liaising with them to agree corrections, enhancements, and compliance with applicable standards
- Supporting the preparation of annual financial statement commentary and key disclosure notes in line with relevant accounting frameworks
- Contributing to finance transformation initiatives, including system upgrades, automation, and process optimisation
- Assisting with the preparation of tax reporting packages and supporting documentation
- Overseeing indirect tax filings and coordinating with external advisors to ensure compliance with local statutory obligations
- Coordinating with external auditors (interim and year-end) across multiple jurisdictions to ensure timely and efficient audit delivery
- Monitoring adherence to accounting policies and internal control frameworks
- Providing ad‑hoc financial analysis and collaborating with finance and non‑finance stakeholders to support business objectives
Person Specification
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
- Professionally qualified accountant (eg. ACCA, CIMA, or French equivalent) with strong experience in French and UK GAAP; US GAAP exposure advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in an international environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative working style
- Strong systems skills, including experience with ERP platforms and advanced Excel or reporting tools
