Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Litigator RTA / Credit Hire role based at our Cleckheaton office. The role involves managing a caseload of RTA and credit hire files from initial instruction through to settlement or trial, including issuing proceedings, drafting pleadings, and preparing witness statements. The litigator will review evidence, assess liability and quantum, negotiate with third-party insurers and opposing solicitors, and provide regular, clear updates to clients. The position requires close attention to court deadlines, effective file management, and proactive progression of cases to achieve timely and cost-effective resolutions. Collaboration with colleagues, participation in case strategy discussions, and adherence to regulatory and firm compliance standards are also core parts of the role.

Qualifications

  • Experience handling litigated RTA and credit hire files, including issuing proceedings and managing cases through the court process.
  • Strong legal drafting skills for pleadings, witness statements, correspondence, and settlement documents.
  • Ability to analyse evidence, assess prospects of success, and provide clear, practical advice on liability and quantum.
