Kennedy Fox Associates are working with a family-owned company located in West Bromwich who are specialists in organo-sulphur synthesis and high-pressure hydrogenation supplying organic chemistry services to a global market in quantities from grams to multi-tonnes. They manufacture for the Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical and Speciality Chemical industries and are experts in custom synthesis, contract manufacture and process optimisation. They are now recruiting a Electrical & Instrumentation Manager focusing on overall Plant maintenance, projects and HSE. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled Engineering team within a COMAH facility. The successful candidate will be an experienced, qualified Instrumentation Manager.
You will need some electrical and controls knowledge, but the instrument side is key and being able to understand things that are measured in the plant through various instruments, such as the flow, temperature, pressure and mass for example.
Responsibilities- Overall responsibility for the management of the Electrical & Instrumentation departments which includes 13 engineers and 4 direct reports.
- Project work – overall responsibility for the design, specification, and installation of all electrical and instrument equipment for new capital & maintenance work and controlling expenditure within authorised budgets.
- Maintenance operations – overall responsibility for the provision, operation and development of all Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance systems.
- Safety, Health & Environmental – To maintain and promote a safe operating culture within the department ensuring that in all its aspects it operates to the highest levels of safety and meets all legal and statutory requirements, company rules and procedures.
- Liaison at all levels inside the company. Outside contacts typically include suppliers, contractors and agencies such as the HSE & EA.
- A HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Instrumentation & Control as a minimum, ideally a degree.
- A further 10 years practical experience post degree with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. This must come from an instrumentation & control background.
- The job requires a flexible attitude to deal with multiple complex jobs simultaneously to meet the required changes in operational priorities.
- Should have a good understanding of ATEX and hazardous area classification.
- Should have an excellent understanding of functional safety within an industrial process plant environment.
- Fluent in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
