I am seeking a Licensed Conveyancer/Divisional Legal Manager for a Tier 1 developer based in Wolverhampton. You will be required to manage the Divisional Legal Centre and will be responsible for the sale of over 10,000 units per year. You will be involved in build and sales forecast meetings, and you will manage 3 business units, however will be based out of the Wolverhampton office. Out of this office, you will manage a team of 10, including an Assistant Divisional Legal Manager, Legal Support, and a number of Estate Conveyancers.

Duties include:

  • Preparation of legal packs for the sale of plots
  • Infrastructure agreements, land transfers, land sales, and sales of freehold reversions
  • Providing legal advice to the business and attending meetings with business units on new developments

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity with a tier 1 construction business offering excellent opportunities moving forward. The role has come available owing to the previous incumbent's retirement and this is a business and division renowned for their excellent staff retention. The role offers hybrid opportunities of 2 days per week work from home once promotion has been passed, and a competitive basic salary and package.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and lead the in-house Conveyancing Team
  • Continually review the resources within the Conveyancing team
  • Transactional work including:
    • Preparation of legal packs for the sale of plots
    • Infrastructure agreements for the adoption of works
    • Land Transfers/Easements to utility companies
    • Sales of surplus land
    • Sales of freehold reversions
    • Management Agreements and Land Transfers to Management Companies
    • Lease extensions, deeds of covenant, deeds of rectification
    • Documents required to resolve historic enquiries
  • Provide proactive, preventative, and pragmatic legal advice to the business
  • Attend meetings with business units on new developments
  • Coordinate the attendance of regular Build/Sales Forecast meetings with the Business Units
  • Monitor compliance with internal operating policies and legal procedures
  • Promote the in-house legal function as an integral part of the Company’s operations

Desired experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer
  • A proven track record of Property Law and residential estate conveyancing
  • Experience in the management of a large team, working in a fast-paced/dynamic environment
  • Experience of dealing with housebuilders and associated legal issues
