We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an established Commercial team and play an important role in supporting the financial and commercial management of residential developments. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a growing housebuilder. Working closely with the Quantity Surveying and wider project teams, you will gain hands-on experience across procurement, cost control, subcontract management, valuations, variations and commercial reporting. You will be supported by experienced commercial professionals and given the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to progress towards Quantity Surveyor level. Key Responsibilities * Support the Quantity Surveyor with the commercial management of residential development projects. * Assist with the preparation and management of project budgets, forecasts and cost reports. * Support the procurement and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers. * Assist with the preparation, review and negotiation of subcontract orders and agreements. * Monitor project costs and identify potential risks, savings and commercial opportunities. * Assist with the assessment and agreement of variations and compensation events. * Support the monthly valuation process and preparation of payment applications. * Assist with subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts. * Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure relevant documentation is kept up to date. * Assist with the preparation of monthly commercial reports and forecasts. * Work closely with Construction, Development, Technical, Estimating and Procurement teams to ensure projects are delivered effectively. * Support the Quantity Surveyor in managing commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle. * Develop strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal stakeholders. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and best practice across the Group. About You We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, organised and keen to develop their career within the housebuilding sector. You will ideally have: * Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial environment. * Experience within housebuilding, residential construction or a main contractor environment is desirable. * A relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable. * Good understanding of construction processes and commercial principles. * Strong numerical and analytical skills. * Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. * A proactive approach and willingness to learn. * Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and commercial/project management systems. * The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines.
