Senior Quantity Surveyor in Bury St Edmunds

Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Eastern Region / Site Based Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction business and play a key role in the commercial management and successful delivery of major construction projects across East Anglia. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with Tier 1 main contractor experience to take a leading role on significant projects, while contributing to the development of commercial teams and supporting the delivery of future projects within the region. Experience working on education or public-sector projects, particularly DfE-funded schemes, would be advantageous. The Role As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring strong financial control, effective risk management and successful commercial outcomes. You will work closely with the wider project team, clients, consultants and supply chain partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities * Lead the commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. * Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting and forecasting. * Take responsibility for project financial control, maximising profitability while maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships. * Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks. * Proactively identify potential issues and address them at an early stage. * Manage project variations, valuations, applications and final accounts. * Manage the procurement process and placement of subcontract orders in line with agreed procurement programmes. * Negotiate subcontract and commercial terms in conjunction with the wider project team. * Manage and support the preparation of Extension of Time, delay and other contractual claims where required. * Lead and manage value engineering initiatives, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders. * Support the resolution and settlement of commercial disputes. * Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. * Provide commercial leadership and support to the wider project team. * Lead, mentor and develop junior commercial team members. * Work closely with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager and Operations teams to support successful project delivery. * Ensure compliance with company processes, procedures and commercial standards. * Contribute to continuous improvement and the achievement of project and business objectives. About You We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate a strong track record of commercially managing projects of significant size and complexity. You will ideally have: * Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Tier 1 main contractor environment. * Experience managing large-scale construction projects. * Experience within the education, public-sector or similar sectors would be advantageous. * A strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and contractual procedures. * Proven experience managing variations, procurement, subcontract accounts, final accounts and commercial reporting. * Experience managing and developing commercial teams If you are an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for your next opportunity with a leading construction business, we would be keen to hear from you
