We are in need of a pre-litigation fee earner in our Blackburn.
Key Tasks:
- Progressing your caseload in a manner to ensure that clients receive appropriate, professional, timely and pertinent legal advice, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations.
- To identify early those cases where proceedings would be tactically beneficial to litigate and to do so expeditiously.
- Identify cases that have an element of serious injury and elevate them from the Portal, supervised and supported by a recognised solicitor within the team.
- Instruct barristers to represent clients at hearings and obtain formal advice over issues of quantum.
- Instruct medical agencies, engineers and liaise with third parties.
- Undertake other duties reasonably required by partners or senior management.
Person Specification
Essential Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- A good understanding of the MOJ process.
- Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Have proven IT skills and ability to adapt new technology.
- Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills including oral and written presentation skills.
- The ability to provide a high level of client care.
Desirable Skills:
- Preferably claimant orientated.
- Proficient with Proclaim Case Management, although training will be provided.
- Experience of Infant Approval Hearings and Stage 3 hearings.
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team with a 'can do' attitude.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A positive approach to working under pressure in a busy environment.
- Methodical approach to tasks and problem solving.
