We are a young vibrant Law firm looking to recruit an experienced Pre-Litigation Fee Earner/Paralegal with Credit Hire Experience to join our Road Traffic Accident Team. This role would suit an ambitious individual who is looking to take the next step in their career, demonstrating excellent levels of client care and providing advice to support clients through their road traffic accident claims.
The successful candidate will have at least 12-18 months previous experience in a similar role, dealing with MOJ Portal cases. Knowledge of credit hire, recovery, storage, and liability arguments are essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for running their own caseload of around 180 files from the claim being submitted to the portal, right up to litigation, including dealing with liability disputed matters and cases that have dropped from the portal, with minimum supervision. The caseload will be primarily RTA matters.
Skills/Experience:
- Dealing with MOJ & OIC Portal matters
- Uploading claims to the MOJ Portal
- Using Med Co and instructing medical agencies
- Conducting AskCue PI searches
- Obtaining documents and evidence in support of general and special damages
- Drafting witness statements
- Recovering credit hire, storage, and recovery charges
- Uploading Stage 2 packs
- Issuing Stage 3 proceedings and preparing Court documents
- Identifying when matters should be removed from the MOJ Portal
- Meeting monthly and quarterly targets
Pre-Litigation:
- Dealing with issues as to why a file has left the MOJ Portal
- Conducting investigations to determine the prospect of success of the files
- Preparing the files to be transferred to the Litigation Department once Court Proceedings are necessary
- Being vigilant for possible Fundamental Dishonesty and bringing it to the attention of the team
- Meeting realistic monthly and quarterly targets
Essential Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Experience of running own caseload with minimal supervision
- Excellent IT skills to run case management system and Microsoft Office products
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a calm and methodical approach
- Proactive in running caseload and providing updates to clients
- Familiar with the Civil Procedure Rules and the Pre-Action Protocols
- Excellent communication and written skills
