Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust has a vacancy for a Teacher of Science to cover a period of maternity leave where Chemistry is the desired discipline, but other sciences will be considered. The role will be based at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form. Kenilworth School and Sixth Form's latest Ofsted report of November 2023 rates the school as Outstanding in all five areas, maintaining our Outstanding status from the Ofsted inspection of 2013. The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject. The post holder will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development.

The successful candidate would be joining a thriving department where all Science staff work for and support each other; a unified team of experienced specialists who are whole-heartedly passionate and enthusiastic about developing our students' love for science. We are a team of 18 highly driven, dedicated, supportive and passionate Science teachers supported by 4 skilled Science technicians. We are proud to provide students with skills that prepare them for their future, whilst broadening their understanding of the scientific world and developing each as a well-rounded individual. Our department comprises of 16 new Science laboratories, 3 prep rooms and a science staff base.
We have an animal club with 4 corn snakes, and we participate in various national and regional competitions including the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Olympiad, The Faraday Challenge and The National Scientific Thinking Challenge. Other examples of recent trips include The Big Bang Fair, New Scientist Live, Christmas lectures, Warwick University Science in Action Lectures, and Operation Ouch! Live and a Year 12 residential visit to Portugal.
Our Science curriculum intent is driven by the whole school intent and is both ambitious and innovative, inspiring all students to excellence. From the beginning of year 7 our students follow a progression model based upon the whole learning journey. Science lessons are exciting, thought-provoking, differentiated and inclusive, where we aim to create a sense of awe and wonder. We provide every student with opportunities for creativity, collaboration, independence, challenge, problem solving; a platform that encourages them to think logically and develop their verbal and written communication skills. We believe in equipping students with the skills and guidance for future education and employment, encouraging them to embrace diversity and develop literacy skills through creative writing and reading for purpose.
As a Teacher of Science, you should be able to teach science across all ability ranges across KS 3-4. The ability to teach KS5 would be advantageous, but not essential.
