Kenect Recruitment is seeking a dedicated, qualified Service Engineer to join our client’s team in the Livingston EH54 area. Serving the gas, water, power, fibre, and civil engineering sectors, the client provides everything from PE pipe systems and electrofusion fittings to valves, hydrants, metering solutions, and specialist hire equipment. This is a full-time role, Temp to Perm for the right candidate.
Role Purpose: To be responsible for repairing and servicing both customers' and the company’s equipment, to quality standards in accordance with Company procedures at optimum cost, whilst providing exceptional levels of customer service.
Role Accountabilities:
- Servicing and calibrating equipment for our own hire fleet and customer-owned equipment, including, where relevant, carrying out services at customer premises.
- Competently carrying out technical demonstrations on the company’s full range of hire products.
- Supplying regional support on the specialist range of equipment that is operated from the central support facility at the HQ in Chesterfield.
- Providing telephone technical support both internally and externally.
- Delivering first-class customer backup including attending breakdowns, providing onsite technical support and training, carrying out site audits and providing feedback to customers and supervisors.
- Establishing good relationships with customers and suppliers, both internal and external, to assist the company in achieving its business goals and objectives.
- Suggesting improvements to equipment, depot policies, systems and working practices as part of a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ability to be flexible especially in terms of travel to support specialist equipment across the South of England.
- Reporting directly to Workshop Supervisor.
Required Practical and Technical Knowledge:
Essential:
- A proven mechanical engineering/mechanics background.
- Electronics, hydraulics and component fault finding background/experience.
- Flexible disposition.
- Aptitude to learn quickly.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Must have own transport.
Desirable:
- FLT Licence.
- Working knowledge of servicing petrol and diesel generators.
- Knowledge of equipment in the fleet hire.
- Willingness to travel.
- Positive “can do” attitude, with the desire to learn and develop.
The role: Immediate Start, Temp to Perm for the right candidate, Monday to Friday (1 hour unpaid per hour, PAYE, paid weekly during probation period).
